Jeff Cox, Controller and Nelson Chajon, Facilities Engineer, in front of the damaged Superdome on September 4, 2005. Hurricane Katrina landed in New Orleans on Monday October 29, 2005. The Coffey Firm relief effort began on Friday October 2, 2005, with the first load of 2000 lbs of canned tuna fish, canned vegetables, batteries, water and other supplies delivered on Saturday October 3, 2005. Due to the number of requests for water the team returned for a second day and delivered 150 case of water to New Orleans East.
Their were approximately 200 survivors remaining in New Orleans East on the last day of our team's visit. Most said that they would not be evacuating. The day before there were probably 500 survivors in the area, most of those evacuated on Saturday.
